Residential Smoke Damage

The above pictures of are a bedroom at a house in Sicklerville that sustained soot damage caused by a gas fireplace malfunction. The gas logs were burning improperly and sending smoke throughout the home. Since it was winter when the incident occurred, the homeowners also had their central HVAC on, which contributed to additional damage throughout the home by circulating the smoke filled air through the HVAC unit and vents in each room. The entire home had discolored walls and a smoke odor during our initial inspection. We were contacted almost a year after the incident occurred. During that time period, they homeowners first hired another restoration company, but that company was asked to leave after one day because they were smearing the soot on the walls rather than cleaning it. Then, the homeowner tried to clean the house themselves and learned it was more work than what they could handle and determined they were just making the damage worse. Finally, the homeowners contacted us. This job was challenging because of the age of the damage and because of the secondary damage caused by improper initial cleaning. Luckily, we have the proper tools and chemicals needed to clean the house and prepare it for paint in just under a week. The homeowners were very happy with our results and they were impressed with how quickly we completed our work using the proper tools and techniques.
